We spent a week exploring rocks. Students weighed, measures, and tested to see if they were magnetic or if they could float.
This year we will document our learning in first grade through this blog. Student work and activities will be on display.

Science: Geology ROCKS!
We are starting a unit called Geology ROCKS. We combined two classes in the Science Lab for a fun experiment. Students used different sized sifters to separate rocks by size. This hands-on activity was a lot of fun for all involved!
Math: Telling Time
We have been working on telling time to the hour and half hour. The class has done a great job with the Judy clocks, but it is even trickier to draw the hands on a clock. After a group lesson review, students partnered up to practice quizzing each other. It is always great to take a step back and observe their mathematical thinking and vocabulary skills in action.
